The science is clear: air pollution is a public health crisis around the world, especially for children under the age of five. But what additional health effects do children face and why? To help explain this, the State of Global Air initiative has released a new video titled Cleaner Air, Healthier Children.

In this video, we introduce six children living around the world – Henri, David, Iris, Amari, Maiyen, and Mila. While these children live very different lives, they are all connected by their exposure to air pollution from various sources like traffic, wildfires, household use of fuels such as wood and charcoal, and industrial emissions. Air pollution exposures during childhood can result in lifelong health effects that have significant impacts to health, longevity, productivity, and quality of life.

The bottom line: It does not have to be this way. We know improving air quality is possible and change starts with understanding and sharing relevant data and information. Watch the video to learn more about this global public health crisis and how data-driven change can save and improve millions of lives around the world.
